Barcelone and Real Madrid decide to lock the horns, and 243rd Clásico appears on the horizon. Barcelona is going into the game with two clear points from Real Madrid at the top of the Liga table. After a 0-0 draw in Camp Nou in the first classic of the season, the two teams will have to look forward to winning and winning La Liga as their final months begin.
This may open Gareth Bale’s doors to start the Clásico, though he is likely to compete with Vinicius Junior or even Lucas Vázquez to fill the third slot. Bale is likely to start with a fellow winger, but because of his ball skills and big-game temperament, manager Zinedine Zidane is probably unlikely to drop Isco.
This is an incredible opportunity for Bale. The Welsh winger was on the go with Zidane every season, but a good El Clasico 2020 result could repair their gap and allow the 11th Real Madrid to play a major role as the champions League challenge in Madrid.
Real Madrid is one of the favorite opponents of Antoine Griezmann. Griezmann scored eight goals against Los Blancos, and he has a better record only against Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano (9 goals per goal).
Griezmann has a great opportunity to really improve his place in the Barcelona sector with a long-term uncertainty about his injury. He has played well so far, demonstrating his skills and work ethic, but fans will want a € 120 million raise and the Clásico offers him an excellent opportunity to provide him with more.
In December Clásico Griezmann flattered, but he is now in good shape, and will make his difference. Score against Real Madrid is a shortcut to become a favorite team, as Suarez and Neymar (and Jeffren!) are proof.
Real Madrid needs the win more then Barcelona after a home draw against Celta and a long-running loss to Levante. The revival of Barca under Setien’s Quique saw them win 5 of their new manager’s six La Liga games.
Game by game under Setién are developing Barcelona. They returned to their roots and every player has enhanced their success with the so-called’ tiki-taka’ style. An early injury crisis could have been a difficult issue, but Martin Braithwaite’s emergency transfer signature would give rise to the attack.
Barca took the last four La Liga Clásicos wins in Santiago Bernabeu, and if they can make five wins in a row against Real Madrid, they’ll put five points clear in the top of La Liga. They’d also have the edge over their opponents, which would give them a six-point lead and an immense chance to get the 3rd-stroke crown.
Thibaut Courtois is to get in (11 clean sheets) with Real Madrid’s impeccable defensive record. The quality of Dani Carvajal beats out the problem of Roberto-Semedo. Jordi Alba normally got the left-hand slot but wound forced Ferland Mendy to slip in.
Raphael Varane is the leading center back on each squad in the middle of the defense, returning to its highest level after a year in 2018/19. This is with Gerard Piqué, because the great spaniard kept the backline of Barcelona together by sheer will and it would have broken entirely without him.
In the middle of this season you potentially have three of La Liga’s top four midsize grounds. Casemiro has returned to its most successful mission, Sergio Busquets is about four years of age at Quique Setién and is now prosperous while Toni Kroos is smooth as hell and a vital part of the attacking cycle of Real Madrid.
In the midst of an assault we got Karim Benzema and Antoine Griezmann finally flourished in a more central role. Griezmann scored the opening goal seven times, and Benzema (9) beats him only here, as Griezmann has worked with Ernesto Valverde for his very first chapter of the season. And then, of course, there is Leo Messi. More goals (18) and help (12), despite the lack of injury at the beginning of the season.
